The sky, atmosphere/ infinite space, either, as one of the elements is set in Burma and Singapore during the second World War. The story starts by describing the life of a boxing sportsman and as the story progresses, it explores philosophies that advocate against war, for love and compassion. This is the first novel by the author.

Judges' Comments
Rama Suresh’s “The sky, atmosphere/ infinite space, either, as one of the elements” is an important work as an exertion of a mega dream. It travels through three different landscapes – India, Myanmar and Singapore, with different cultural exposures and World War Two as the background. The hero of the novel Yusof discovers the nobility of human affection through his experiences with the different identities such as Buddhism, Islam and Hinduism. The transition from historical to spiritual platform, and the imaginary storyline makes this an important work, even with its imperfection. The central focus of this novel is close to Singapore’s global cosmopolitanism.

இந்தியாவின் தஞ்சாவூரைச் சேர்ந்த ராம சுரேஷ், தன்னை ஒரு ஆர்வமுள்ள வாசகராகவும், எழுத்தாளராகவும், பேச்சாளராகவும் தன்னை நிலைநிறுதிக் கொள்கிறார். அவரது கதை கோல்டன் பாயின்ட் விருது 2015 இல் இரண்டாவது பரிசைப் பெற்றது மேலும் அவர் கோல்டன் பாயின்ட் 2017 இல் சிறந்த முதல் பரிசையும் பெற்றார். சமூகத்தில் அவர் காணும் பலதரப்பட்ட மனிதர்களின் குணாதிசயங்களையும் அவர்களின் விவரங்களையும் எப்போதும் தன் கதைகளில் பதிவுசெய்யும் எழுத்தாளராக வலம் வருகிறார், அவரது முதல் வெளியீடான “உட்லண்ட்ஸ் ஸ்ட்ரீட் 81” 2018 இல் தமிழ்நாட்டின் கா.சீ.சிவகுமார் விருதைப் பெற்றது.

Rama Suresh was born in Thanjavur India. She came second and first for the Golden Point Award in 2015 and 2017 respectively for her short stories. She enjoys recording minute and diverse details she sees in society.
