Programmes Manager

The Programmes Manager will report to the Head of Programmes and will be responsible for the planning, execution, coordination and evaluation of the Singapore Book Council’s programmes. The Programmes Manager will ensure that the programmes in his or her portfolio will achieve their objectives, be completed in a timely fashion and within the allocated budget.

The Programmes Manager will manage and oversee the day-to-day programme activities of SBC and long-term strategy for the organisation. The person will be working in a dynamic, innovative and versatile environment, contributing to the common goal of promoting Singapore literature and writers.

The Programmes Manager is expected to be a team player and able to work independently; highly motivated; open to working in a flexible environment and keen tocontribute. The person is expected to have a passion for reading and books. It is preferred that the person is effectively bilingual, in Malay as well as English. Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Conceptualise, develop, and execute programmes and projects in line with the programming strategy of SBC, in particular our signature programmes including #BuySingLit, Singapore Literature Prize and the Anugerah Persuratan.

  • Coordinate and manage all administrative and logistical aspects, including proposals and reports for stakeholders, timelines, budget, volunteer management, as well as obtaining necessary approvals from internal and external parties.
  • Liaise with partners and stakeholders for programmes, including authors, illustrators, publishers, funding bodies and various audiences or participants.
  • Work closely and coordinate with SBC’s marketing team in the marketing efforts of his or her programmes.
  • Develop partnerships with various stakeholders, and coordinate outreach efforts to promote SBC's programmes to various communities, including schools and students.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in events planning and project
    management, especially in the arts industry. Experience or familiarity with the literary arts sector and/or virtual events is an advantage.
  • Good writing and communication skills, such as presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in strategy development and resource management.
  • Good interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • A team player as well as able to work independently.
  • Open to working in a flexible environment and keen to contribute.
  • Basic marketing skills, including familiarity with digital media.
  • Have a passion for reading and books.
  • It is preferred that the person is effectively bilingual, in Malay as well as English.
