This collection of poems focuses on the unique aspects of Singapore and centers on the characteristics of migrant life. It also aims to integrate themes and subjects relevant to the land into the poems. The book is divided into four sections: "Land of Fragrant Mandarai," "Snakes that Devour Estrogen," "Fingers Stirring in a Thorny Spoon," and "Words that Cross the Sea." These poems, depicting contemporary life, address the sense of inadequacy of this land. Ponni, who loves the migrant condition, is seen laughing, dancing, and embracing her own language as she settles into these poems.

Inbha has published six poetry books and a short story collection. Her dedication to her craft culminated in the poetry collection Layang Layang Birds Tweet, which won the 2022 Singapore Literature Prize. She has also received awards such as the Karikala Cholan Award. She is the head of Kavimaalai Singapore and editor of Thinaigal e-magazine.

My writing process usually involves typing directly on my phone or laptop rather than using a pen. It often unfolds in a mix of patterns—sometimes there are multiple drafts, where I refine my thoughts gradually, and other times, I experience sudden bursts of inspiration that lead to intense, focused writing sessions. The process is fluid, with periods of reflection and revision, followed by moments of creative energy.

I write poetry whenever the inspiration strikes.

Each poem I write brings a deeply satisfying experience. Similarly, these poems provided me with a truly wonderful experience. Every poem that emerges from small reflections is indescribable through words when I write it with my fingers. At times, I have felt as though my body becomes as intangible as air. In this book, the moments when I selected titles for the poems in my own style were particularly joyful.

The poems have clearly expressed the external aspects of life with sensitivity. Additionally, I hope they also reflect inner emotions deeply in a philosophical sense.
