长夏之诗
《长夏之诗》收入陈志锐二十年来未结集付梓的组诗。22首组诗都产生于赤道小岛新加坡,字里行间都是炎热潮湿多阵雨的南岛气候。然而,虽出自不到七百余平方公里的弹丸小岛,诗句内文与诗意却无远弗届,从自身的童年到孩子的童年,从国家的大历史大人物到个人的私密微观宇宙,从爱情、友情、旅情、选情,一路直写到疫情。
Poems from the Eternal Summer
Poems from the Eternal Summer is a collection of suites of poems that were written over 20 years. These 22 suites of poems were produced in Singapore, which is hot, humid and rainy, and these characteristics became that of the poetic lines too. Although they originated from a small island no larger than 700 square kilometres, the poetic texts and meanings were far and beyond: from his own childhood to that of his children, from the universe's greatest historical figures to a personal private micro-view of the universe, from love, friendship, travels, elections, to the pandemic.

打包好行气的行囊
以行书的速度 斜体的慌张
一个个排队逃亡
有感叹号的惊险,问号也迷失方向

后记:
潘受(1911-1999),新加坡教育家和古典诗人,更是国宝级书法家。1955至1960年,曾任前南洋大学秘书 长,过世前一年年获南洋理工大学颁予名誉文学博士学位,致答辞中以复名南洋大学为唯一愿望。

评判评语
陈志锐在诗集《长夏之诗》中,成功地建立其诗学本土性。《追寻童年的 Sadvijnana:诗六首》经由梵文Sadvijana,即六识——眼识、耳识、鼻识、舌识、身识、意识,来书写他的狮城记忆。这首组诗,连同其他诗作如《岁末返归南侨母校金炎路旧校舍惊觉原来如此》,都是以狮城作为书写坐标而创作的。陈志锐正是以这种文学创作方式,来回应这块他生于斯长于斯的土地和童年记忆。
写诗是一种艺术创作,既然如此,诗人就免不了需要有创新的勇气;《写作是一场伟大的冒险与就义》,写出了写作者心中的炽热与滚烫,特别是组诗之六《携带信念》:“写作就是零下的一把火/温着历史缝中的希望/即使在北地激荡往复的狼嚎回音中/即使未来可能的终于还很远/即使人类已经如狼豹,仍相信/史前的第一把火/有过的热”。诗人在刻意营造的长短句中,在抑扬顿挫的字义锻铸中,展现了一以贯之的学者风范。
Judges' Comments
In Poems from the Eternal Summer, Tan successfully established his poetic localism. In “The Chasing of Childhood: Sadvi jnana”, a group of six poems, he uses the Sanskrit word “Sadvi jnana”, which means the six senses of eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind to write about his memories of Singapore. This group of poems, along with others such as “A Sudden Realisation from a Year-end Visit to the Kim Yan Road Old Campus of my Alma Mater Nan Chiau” are all set in Singapore. In this way, Tan responds as a literary creator to the land where he was born and raised, and his childhood memories.
Poetry writing is a kind of artistic creation, so poets inevitably need the courage to innovate. In “Writing is a Great Adventure and Sacrifice”, the passion and fire in Tan’s heart are clearly expressed, especially in the sixth poem of the series, “With Faith”: Writing is a fire below zero/warming the hopes in the cracks of history/even amidst echoes of wolf howls in the North/even if the possible future finality is still far away/even if humans are like wolves and leopards, we still believe/in the lingering warmth/of the first fire in prehistory. By deliberately varying the length of the lines in his poems and forging rhythmic phrases of meaning, Tan showcases his consistent scholarly style.

陈志锐
陈志锐副教授曾在东西方求学,获得台湾师范大学国文系学士、英国莱斯特大学商业管理硕士、新加坡国立大学英国文学硕士及英国剑桥大学汉学博士。他现任南洋理工大学国立教育学院亚洲语言文化学部副主任。他也受委国家图书馆华文阅读委员会主席,教育部、社青体部、艺术理事会、华文报集团的咨询委员。 作为一名学者作家与艺术工作者,陈志锐曾发起新加坡全国学生文学奖、新加坡诗歌节,并担任东南亚文学奖、新加坡文化奖、金笔奖、新加坡年度书籍奖等评审。他曾获新加坡文学奖、金笔奖、方修文学奖、青年艺术家奖、全国杰出青年奖,陈之初美术奖,Lee Kong Chian Research Fellow, George Lydon Hicks Research Fellow等,撰写并主编华文创作、中英文学术论著近30册,近年创作有《狮城地标诗学》(诗集,城市,2017)、《长夏之诗》(台湾时报,2022)。
Tan Chee Lay
Assoc Professor Tan Chee Lay (PhD, Oriental Studies, Cambridge University) is currently Deputy Head of Asian Languages and Cultures Academic Group at NIE, NTU. He was awarded the Young Artist Award and the Singapore Youth Award. A founding member of the multilingual Poetry Festival Singapore, he has been the judge for the Cultural Medallion, Singapore Book Prize, and S.E.A. Write Award. A prolific writer of various genres, he has published almost 30 books of academic and creative writing.
