Synopsis

Participants will learn about the three types of writing for mental health: expressive writing, reflective writing, and creative writing. The focus of this workshop will be on expressive writing and will include some theory and mostly practical writing exercises. Participants will engage in story-telling and story-writing.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Develop an understanding for writing as therapy
  • Gain an understanding of how to write about mental health

Course Objectives:

  • To introduce participants to the psychological benefits of writing
  • To provide tips on how to start writing for mental wellbeing
  • To encourage regular writing for menatl wellbeing

Programme Itinerary:

  • Introduction (10 minutes)
  • Session 1: Psychological benefits of writing (30 minutes)
  • Session 2: Processing experiences and emotions. Interactive. (30 minutes).
  • Break: 10 minutes
  • Session 3: Writing exercise: letter to self (20 minutes)
  • Session 4: Writing experiences and emotions (30 minutes)
  • Session 5: Peer-evaluation of writing samples, anonymous (30 minutes)
  • Q&A: 20 minutes

Cancellation:

The programme can be cancelled or postponed two weeks before the programme date if the minimum number of participants is not met. Participants will be fully refunded for workshops cancelled by us.

Participants who are unable to attend a workshop they have registered for are to inform us of the reason two weeks before the workshop date. They will be fully refunded in the event of extenuating and mitigating circumstances (E.g. illness, bereavement, accidents) . Those who inform us up to 5 working days before the workshop date will receive a 50% refund. Those who did not turn up at the workshop will not receive a refund.

Upon registration, you are deemed to have read and understood the cancellation and withdrawal policy and accept the terms contained therein.
