Synopsis
In this informative and interactive workshop, participants will learn more about the techniques and styles of writing reviews of different media from books to films. Through writing exercises and a discussion on tips and challenges, participants can also hone their critical thinking and writing skills.
Learning Outcomes:
- To equip participants with fundamental techniques on reviews of books, films, etc.
- To enlighten participants on the importance, value and processes of reviews.
- To enhance participants' critical thinking and writing skills.
Course Objectives:
- Develop a deeper understanding of different types and styles of reviews.
- Understand what goes into the contents of a review.
- Enhance your review writing skills through practical exercises and feedback sessions.
- Explore good practices and pitfalls of writing reviews.
Programme Itinerary:
- Introduction & Icebreaker Activity (20 minutes)
- Part 1: What's goes into a review? (including Writing Exercise 1: Film Review and sharing) (50 minutes)
- Break (10 minutes)
- Part 2: Review styles and tips (30 minutes)
- Writing Exercise 2: Reviewing a Short Story (20 minutes)
- Feedback Session (20 minutes)
- Closing Remarks and Q&A Session (30 minutes)

Cancellation:
The programme can be cancelled or postponed two weeks before the programme date if the minimum number of participants is not met. Participants will be fully refunded for workshops cancelled by us.
Participants who are unable to attend a workshop they have registered for are to inform us of the reason two weeks before the workshop date. They will be fully refunded in the event of extenuating and mitigating circumstances (E.g. illness, bereavement, accidents) . Those who inform us up to 5 working days before the workshop date will receive a 50% refund. Those who did not turn up at the workshop will not receive a refund.
Upon registration, you are deemed to have read and understood the cancellation and withdrawal policy and accept the terms contained therein.
