Experience how poetry can move across signed, spoken and written languages in this interactive workshop!
Discover how Deaf poetry creates meaning through more than sign-words, also drawing on facial grammar, body movement, space, repetition and visual imagery to express mood, metaphor and feeling.
Lily will also guide participants through interpreting a visual image and/or a short English text-based poem into Deaf poetry, exploring different ways of expressing meaning through Singapore Sign Language (SgSL), movement, rhythm, and visual storytelling. Along the way, discover how meaning can shift, expand, and transform across languages and modalities, and experience interpretation as a creative and embodied process.
