Introduction to Podcasting by Wayne Rée & Kyle Ong

Think you and your bestie can be the new Yah Lah BUT? Want to take a deep dive into your favourite niche topic? Or maybe you just want to create a show that inspires school spirit?

Over two sessions, the creators of the hit series, Tales From Incredible Tales and Ghost Maps, will help you get started on your very own podcast! Whether you’re a student or young adult, this workshop will show you how to get the best out of the right software and tools, and how to communicate effectively by writing interview, educational and event coverage-styled podcasts.

Module I: Writing a Podcast
Learn how to structure and write for interview, educational and
event coverage-styled podcasts.

Module II: Recording a Podcast
Find out what are the best tools and software you’ll need for your
podcasts, as well as recording best practices.

Cancellation:

The programme can be cancelled or postponed two weeks before the programme date if the minimum number of participants is not met. Participants will be fully refunded for workshops cancelled by us.

Participants who are unable to attend a workshop they have registered for are to inform us of the reason two weeks before the workshop date. They will be fully refunded in the event of extenuating and mitigating circumstances (E.g. illness, bereavement, accidents) . Those who inform us up to 5 working days before the workshop date will receive a 50% refund. Those who did not turn up at the workshop will not receive a refund.

Upon registration, you are deemed to have read and understood the cancellation and withdrawal policy and accept the terms contained therein.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Wayne Rée

Wayne Rée (he/they) is the co-creator of the multiple award-winning podcast, Ghost Maps; the talk show, Dead Air; and the hit Mediacorp series, Tales From Incredible Tales.

He also co-created Work-Life Balance—the prose/comics hybrid that won Best Literary Work and the coveted Book of the Year at the 2023 Singapore Book Awards—as well as the comic, Worlds Apart: A Conversation About Mental Health. You can find him at waynereewrites.com.

Kyle Ong

Kyle Ong debuted as a director in 2017 with Discovery Channel's #NoFilter, and his portfolio spans diverse projects, including a TV documentary series on Singapore's Paralympic team for the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Kyle's works explore the dichotomy of life and death, from vanishing traditions to the literal concept itself, showcased in his acclaimed NYFA multi-nominated documentary, "148: Shangri-La Confectionery," and the screened horror short, "Closing Time," featured in Kota Kinabalu and Tokyo.

Kyle is the Executive Producer and Co-Creator of one of Southeast Asia's most popular English Horror Podcasts, GHOST MAPS.

His experience also led him to facilitate courses on filmmaking and podcasting for the next generation of content creators. Kyle is also a NIE-certified instructor.

Learning Outcomes

An understanding of the tools and software required to create a podcast as well as the ability to write about specific topics in an organised manner, conduct organised, yet robust interviews, and combine those two skills to cover events.
