Ng Sock Peng, the receiver of The Best Travel Blog of Singapore Award, has been running her blog (mylovelybluesky.com) for over 14 years. She loves travelling to the point that it has become a major part of her life. She came up with a lovely character, the braided little girl named Ameimei, and shares a world full of great sceneries, delicious foods, and fun activities during her journeys through Ameimei’s perspectives. Ameimei’s Diary, a picture book detailing her daily life, has gained much attention and is well-received by its readers.
In addition, Sock Peng loves posting stories of traditional industries and jobs through her blog. She hopes that Singapore’s traditional culture can be passed down through these written and pictorial records. In the year 2021, she was invited by Nam Hwa Opera to publish her first picture book on opera, Found You!, as both the author and illustrator. The book was met with critical acclaim, and she is further encouraged to try her hands at creating more picture books.
Since 2022, she has been a resident guest on Mediacorp Capital 958’s programme “Tapping into Malaysian Towns”, where she shares stories of local Malaysian culture and tourism. Using her hand-drawn maps as a storytelling bridge, she brings listeners closer to the charm, heritage, and humour of small-town travel.
In 2026, she compiled a selection of these hand-drawn maps, illustrations, cultural essays, field notes, behind-the-scenes travel stories, and observations on Malaysia’s evolving towns into her book, “Exploring Malaysia’s Hidden Gems with Hand-Drawn Maps.”
