Writing Using Poetic Forms

What lies beyond the haiku, sonnet and ballad? In this poetry writing workshop, students will explore the principles behind various poetic forms. Poet Crispin Rodrigues will go beyond the western-centric forms of poetry, and introduce students to the diverse range of local forms of poetry including the pantun, anima methodi, twin cinema and empat perkataan. Students will get to apply their knowledge of these forms as they create their own poems.

Understand the purpose and use of poetic forms in writing poetry
Be introduced to local forms of poetry including, but not limited to, the pantun, anima methodi, twin cinema, and empat perkataan

Crispin Rodrigues

Crispin Rodrigues taught first-year English Literature students in a university for almost two years. He is a published poet and spoken word performer, and has organised literary events on the university and national level.
