Eva Wong Nava

Eva Wong Nava

Eva Wong Nava was born on a tropical island where a heraldic animal guards the inhabitants from marauding pirates. Her ancestors braved monsoon winds, sailing from the Middle Kingdom to Nanyang, to plant roots in British Malaya. When the winds changed, her relatives sailed again, enduring hail storms and bitter north winds, for cooler climates. Eva writes stories inspired by her childhood, the books she'd read, and the people she'd met. She likes adding a dash of magic to her stories because who doesn't love a dose of magic? Eva writes across age groups, but she is known for her picture books. She loves how words and pictures inter-animate to become engaging stories that spark imagination. When not writing, she is a sensitivity reader at The Writing Essentials because she cares about how her people, culture and heritage are represented in books, films and media. Eva lives in the Land of Albion with a goat, tiger and dog.
