In this 1.5-hour workshop, writer/academic Chow Teck Seng, who has served as a judge for literary competitions for many years will share three different stylistic forms of short stories, as references for the participants’ own revision of their fiction manuscripts before submission for competitions. From there, he will also highlight how one may combine ideologies and master narratives with the different elements of the novel, vary perspectives, infuse or emphasise one’s language style, and pay attention to narration to revise the manuscript into an interesting or thought-provoking work. In modern fiction aesthetics, should we strengthen or deconstruct fiction’s elements such as the story, characters, and language?
