The Making of Poetry: Editing and Revising

About this event

The focus of the workshop is on the art of revisioning, of seeing the poem as embodiment, as having a tangible body, and on working with palpable poetic forms and engaging with poetry as an act of making and shaping. It will also look at writing as rewriting and the process of editing as a vital part of revision. Participants will appreciate the art of poetry as acts of making and remaking and editing as a seamless part of the process of discovering the poem’s meaning and form. The workshop will also look at what makes a poetry collection a book with a distinct narrative or lyrical voice and focus.

Participants will hopefully appreciate:

  • Poetry as making and remaking.
  • Writing as rewriting and revisioning.
  • Envisioning the achieved poem and the poetry collection as a book.
  • What makes a strong poetry book or a good poetry anthology. try collection a book with a distinct narrative or lyrical voice and focus.
