At this workshop, Anya Goncharova, from Penguin Random House North Asia, will share insights into what international editors are looking for in your work, and what it takes to catch the eye of an international publisher. She will give an overview of the editorial process, taking participants through the stages of acquisitions, content edits, line edits, and final proofs, showing how each phase in the work is managed by top international publishing houses. Based on her own experience in the publishing industry,
Anya will share tips on recent trends, as well as dos and don’ts for writers who hope to break into the international English language market. Participants will be given the opportunity to share their work, and to offer peer edits on the works of other writers during the course of the workshop. We invite participants to bring a work of prose (fiction and non-fiction are both welcome) of no more than 1,500 words with which they can gain some hands-on experience during the workshop.
This workshop is for beginning, emerging, and established writers working in the English language who hope to break into the international market.
