In a pragmatic society like Singapore where time, speed, efficiency and instant success are the dominating rules and order. The act of Walking is often regarded as purely functional. This project proposes revisiting this most fundamental, natural, simple and often ignored body action of walking, to explore the relations and possibilities with the experiential, the poetic, performative, narrative, investigative and interactive in the everyday life, the human relations, the political and cultural structure of urban cities.

‘Hair’ is a collage of physical and emotional landscapes, based on initial choreographies by Petar Todorov, Desislava Mincheva and Gregor Kamnikar from the productions ‘Anatomy of Extreme’, ‘Delta’ and “Chaos-Body without Doors’. The solos are put this time in a different context and are designed in a brand new visual line. The production uses the hair as a symbol of the female power. Hiding the hair of the woman has been historically rooted in many world cultures, including Bulgaria. Playing with the image of the hair, the solo performance explores female sensitivity on issues like confusion, fear, desire, freedom with the means of the physical theatre.
Performed by Desislava Mincheva. Concept and Directed by Petar Todorov. Costumes by Nikolina Kostova-Bogdanova. Music environment Petar Todorov and Desislava Mincheva.
This project is supported by the Asia-Europe Foundation as a follow-up project of the Artists’ Networks and Autonomous Cultural Centres series.

We draw inspiration from the environment, surroundings and events around us. In this episode, be inspired by stories from people living on the fringe. With guidance from Alvin Tan (The Necessary Stage), Poet Ng Yi-Sheng and Writer Tan Teck Howe, explore how you can create works to express your thoughts and voices of the voiceless in society. In this hands-on session, explore ways to write a piece of drama, poetry or short story.
This episode opens participants to the invaluable need for research (whether it be in the form of interviews, literature research or fieldwork) for creative composition. Due to limited places for each session, please register via http://golibrary.nlb.gov.sg at ‘Experience Singapore Literature’.
