Rasiah Halil
Born in 1956
Rasiah is a poet, writer and translator. Her books, Perbualan: Buku Catatan Seorang Gipsi (1988), Orang Luar (1991), Sungai & Lautan (1995), Ayah Tidak Sayang Padaku Lagi (2007) and Hikayat Sri Anggerik (2007) dwell on social and humanitarian issues. Her works have received many commendation prizes and awards since 1983, while Peristiwa and Dalang: Episod Tiga took the Malay Literature Prize Award in 1999 and 2001 respectively, Educated at the University of Singapore, she taught at the University of Brunei, National University of Singapore and National Institute of Education. She attended the University of Iowa’s International Writing Programme in 1995 on a Fulbright scholarship.
