Bookaburra started operation in 1994 as a small home-run business, but quickly grew and moved to a retail shop in Forum Shopping Mall with separate office/warehouse space. It also operates book fairs in the local and international schools, giving students the opportunity to purchase from a wide selection of popular and award-winning titles.
Strengths
As a specialist children’s bookshop, Bookaburra focuses on providing a wide range of books and book related products for children of all ages. Young adult titles are well represented, and it also has a selected range of books on parenting, as well as teacher’s resources. Its books originate from the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US.
Bookaburra has also co-published a range of new generation cloth books and magnetic board book titles for the very young. Bookaburra’s shop staff are trained to help customers in their selection, and they can also assist schools and kindergartens in selecting books on specific themes.
