Mr. R Ramachandran has long been associated with the promotion of reading, writing, publishing and library development in his previous appointments as Director, National Library, Deputy Chief Executive, National Library Board and subsequently Secretary – General International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions( IFLA). He has been a member of the National Book Development Council of Singapore since 1969, serving in various capacities as Hon. Secretary, Vice-Chairman and Chairman.

Vasantha has many years of experience working in Singapore, India and Australia in areas of Administration, Accounting, Travel & Tours and Design House, Production Management. She was working in Australia as a Practice Manager before joining the Book Council, Singapore as a full time staff.

Trained as an architect, Kenneth was working in his family's antiquities business for ten years. As the Singapore Regional Advisor for the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), he worked with the Book Council during AFCC 2010 and 2011, leading to a full-time position as Festival Manager.

Rizlan graduated from Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Business in Economics and Integrated Marketing Communication on a merit scholarship. He was selected as the only Singapore representative to be featured in the university’s international prospectus and film. Has diverse work experience in various industries in the areas of marketing, sales and customer service.


Kannan Chandran

Kannan writes extensively on a variety of subjects and his three decades of journalism experience have taken him into magazine and book publishing. He was the Managing Editor at Magazines Incorporated, and the publisher of Global Magazines. He has conceptualised and worked on several leading local publications, including WEALTH and The Peak, and has also developed custom titles for international organisations such as Caltex, American Express, Mercedes-Benz, among others. He established E-Quill Media in 2000 to develop editorial and publishing projects. He is the first Singaporean in the field of journalism and communications to be bestowed the Order of Bernardo O'Higgins by the Government of Chile. This rank carries the title of 'Comendador' (Knight). He was also the President of the Pro-Tem Committee that established MENSA (Singapore).
